Languaging (2014) is a short animated film of hand-drawn, improvised, circuit-like compositions accompanied by a text read aloud by a computer. The elements of the language are presented: the dot and the line. A behaviour, the way the dots and lines interact, reveals itself as the elements are used to create a series of improvised compositions. Some compositions are then rewound to a certain point and a new composition unfolds. Languaging is a meditation on improvisation, language, and the diverging realities that are borne in a moment of choice.

Sound, script, animation, and editing by Steph Yates.
